about malerie

Malerie was surrounded by music as a young child and began taking piano lessons at the age of three. When she was five years old, she was introduced to the harp and immediately fell in love with this unique instrument. Along with private lessons, Malerie developed her repertoire through youth orchestras, harp ensembles, volunteer work in church, retirement and nursing homes as well as weddings, receptions and other events. In high school, she studied with two professors at Arizona State University. Upon graduating, she was accepted into Brigham Young University’s School of Music as a music major with an emphasis in harp. There she played in various university orchestras and was also a regular entertainer at The Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City. She also continued her busy work as a freelance harpist, playing for a variety of private and corporate events. Malerie now resides in San Diego with her family while her husband attends UCSD.

The harp has always been an important part of Malerie’s life. She has found so much joy in sharing her beautiful gift with others and watching how music and this special instrument can touch many lives.
